I’m excited to share an important professional update.
I’ve recently started collaborating with a university to develop and teach a new course titled “Chinese Language and Cross-Cultural Communication”, designed for professionals working with Chinese partners in business and international cooperation.
This program was created for specialists and teams who engage with China in real professional environments — where language and communication are closely connected to cultural context.
Why this course is needed
When professionals decide to learn Chinese, the challenge is often not limited to vocabulary or grammar.
Many come with a broader experience:
Meetings feel polite, but unclear.
Partners communicate indirectly.
Silence carries meaning.
Negotiations require more time and relational trust.
These situations highlight an important point:
the key barrier is often not language itself, but cultural communication logic.
That is why this course focuses on both linguistic competence and cross-cultural understanding.

Course focus: language + communication strategy
This program goes beyond traditional language instruction.
It supports professionals in developing practical communication skills for working with Chinese colleagues and partners, with attention to:
- Chinese communication patterns and high-context interaction
- indirect speech and culturally appropriate messaging
- “face” (面子) and relationship-building (关系) in professional settings
- business etiquette and negotiation frameworks
- applied language for meetings, partnerships, and workplace situations
The goal is to provide learners with tools that are immediately relevant in professional contexts.
A constructive and applied approach
Rather than treating Chinese as an isolated subject, the course is structured around real scenarios and communication strategies.
It is designed to help professionals not only speak more accurately, but also communicate more effectively — with cultural awareness, confidence, and clarity.
Moving forward
I’m grateful to begin this collaboration with the university and to contribute to cross-cultural education in such a timely and practical area.
More updates will follow as the program develops further, including course materials and upcoming sessions.
